Designers for Finland is and should be about helping make peoples lives even a little bit better or more fun.
50 Hours of Social Design is one concept to make that happen.
The concept:
The event starts on Friday afternoon with School of Social Innovation with volunteers and facilitators. The case to be solved is presented, and design methods taught, tasks presented (prepared beforehand by the organisers and facilitators).
On Saturday the case provider staff and customers come and join the designers (or the designers join the case providers) and the “understanding” phase of the design is done (shadowing, interviews, workshops). In the evening, the research results will be analysed.
Sunday is the time for ideation and prototyping the ideas.
The results of the design process will be presented on Sunday afternoon.
How does that sound to you?
Designers for Finland wants to improve social services and make Finland a better place to live in.

Slowly but surely...
Designers for Finland has been laying low for the past four months. Bubbling under, though, has been the thought that we must make this happen!
So, we have been developing a concept of "50 Hours of Social Design", for which we have applied funding from Helsinki World Design Capitol 2012, and the possibility to be included in the official program. No answer as of yet, and time is soon running out... No worries, though, I'm sure we'll be trying our best to make the events happen anyway.
If you want to be a part of the project team, please let me know!
In the mean time, the language of the Blog has been changed to English, as you notice. I believe, we can serve a wider audience this way. Of course, the other Designers for Finland info on the website can still also be found in Finnish, as well as our Facebook page will remain in Finnish - at least for the time being.
Will be letting you know more about the 50 Hours of Social Design concept in the near future!
